Lasagne bulb planting

At our December 2024 meeting we all planted three layers of bulbs (Lasagne planting). Crocus, narcissus and tulips.

Here are the first signs of the crocus bulbs emerging.

Early February 2025

The crocuses are starting to grow

The EGGC members experienced very different rates of growth. This depends upon whether the pot is placed in a north facing position or a bright sunny place.

Mid February 2025

A sunny spot

These pots are racing ahead and starting to flower before many other EGGC members. The south facing aspect helped them along.

Late February 2025

Beautiful pot of crocuses

By this time, many of the pots had caught up with each other and it looks like the bulbs that we planted are strong and healthy as well as being the same colour.

These beautiful crocus are a species called Ruby Giant. A spectacular flower.

It is now time for the narcissus to take over and you see them here beginning to tower over the crocus.
